Work Package 4: Cost effectiveness

WP4 is led by Shevanthi Nayagam and Lucky Ngwira

In WP4 we will evaluate the health and economic impact of implementing the simplified ‘screen-and-treat all’ strategy for preventing mother-to-child transmission of hepatitis B in Malawi and The Gambia. We will assess the costs to both health systems and patients, evaluate the intervention's cost-effectiveness compared with current practice, and use mathematical modelling to estimate its long-term population impact, including reductions in HBV infections, HBV-related deaths and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs). The findings will provide evidence to inform national policy and support progress towards the WHO hepatitis B elimination targets.
